We made it back from Ukraine alive and well! In our last post Tyler talked about the Amazing Race. This year we, as interns, were apart of the three day race starting in Kiev, Ukraine and ending in Frydlant, Czech Republic. Along with the other leaders and Czech interns we took two over night trains into Ukraine to being this adventure and meet our team at the Kiev airport.
This race is designed by JV to equip us as teams to be prepared for hard times, attitudes and personalities on our teams, and to stretch us. And I can tell you that is exactly what happened..in a good way! While we had challenges like street performing to get money, zip lining the longest line in Europe, and eating gelatized chicken fat with chicken insides, we also had amazing team bonding!
Tyler and I love our team! It was like family from the beginning! God definitely started us off on a trusting foot. Jeremy, on our team, showed up ten minutes before we were suppose to start the race due to lost luggage! And Ann had a delayed flight so we started the race without her, but got to be with her soon. Our team had great attitudes about everything from the very beginning. Out of 17 teams total we came in 13th. Which is pretty cool….13th team in 2013! We just had fun, ran when we wanted to, but really took the time to get to know each other.
Now we are back in Czech, thank you Lord! And have started intern training! There are around 120 interns serving all over eastern and Central Europe this summer. Is such a special thing to be all together for this week!
Training consists of seminars taught by JV country leaders on culture and what to expect during camps. We will be very equipped to go out after this! We leave on Thursday to begin visits and to promote camps! Please pray for us as we go to encourage the leaders at these churches an d that students will want to come to camp in July!
